Jo Ann Hofheimer & Maurice Jones Host Event

On April 12, Jo Ann Hofheimer, Interim Board Chair and Maurice Jones, Immediate Past Board Chair, hosted a group of folks from the Virginia Beach/Norfolk area for a lovely event at the Hofheimer’s home.  Mint Juleps were flowing and Elton Williams, one of VA Folklife’s Apprentice Masters, played the steel drums and explained to the crowd the folk tradition of making and playing the drums.

Jo Ann has been a very active board member at VFH, particularly in the Center for the Book and Virginia Folklife areas.  Unfortunately for VFH, Jo Ann will be stepping down from the Board this summer and Maurice has just taken on his new post in the Obama Administration as Deputy Secretary of Housing and Urban Development.  Both will be sorely missed by everyone at VFH.

Thank you to Jo Ann & Buzzy Hofheimer and Maurice Jones for hosting such a fabulous evening for VFH!  The Board has made a commitment to cultivation events as a crucial strategy to find new supporters to the Annual Fund and partners for programming.  Stay tuned for more of these cultivation events in the coming months in McLean, Charlottesville and Roanoke.
