The Virginia Arts of the Book Center (VABC) went down the rabbit hole for the evening of November 15, celebrating their miniature book collaborative project with an Alice in Wonderland themed auction.
The centerpiece of the auction was a “Bookmaker’s Dozen” of miniature books. This set of fifteen handmade miniature books showcased a variety of printing styles including letterpress, lithography, etching, & giclée and a variety of folding/binding styles including coptic, stiff board, accordion, and non-adhesive bindings.
The books are the work of 27 local artists who each created works on a 2″ x 3″ scale. Only 15 copies of the complete collection exist and one was raffled off at the auction.
VABC’s annual Raucous Auction fundraiser allows the Center to offer letterpress, book design, and graphic design classes, projects, and workshops. Thank you to all our participants, partiers, and raffle-ticket buyers!
