Virginia Arts of the Book Center member artist Robert Schultz spent some of his summer printing a limited edition artist’s book, “Face to Face,” which features elements of Walt Whitman’s poems, Civil War images from the Liljenquist Collection of the Library of Congress, and pressed leaves from battlefield witness trees.

His work will be displayed in spring 2015 at the Taubman Museum of Art in Roanoke. This short video captures some of the artist’s process at the VABC studio.

Shultz and Vietnamese-born artist Binh Dahn also received a grant from VFH in 2009 for a project called “Knowing Vietnam.”
