Karenne Wood, director of VFH’s Virginia Indian program and member of the Monacan nation, will be the featured speaker at the South Atlantic Modern Language Association (SAMLA)’s 2012 conference. The conference will be held the weekend of November 9-11, 2012 at the Sheraton Imperial in Durham, North Carolina.
Wood’s conference presentation, exploring the theme of “Intersections of Memory and Exile”, will include three parts. On Friday, November 9 at 6:15 p.m., she will act as a respondent for an American Indian poetry roundtable discussion. She will facilitate a critical discussion on Saturday, November 10 at 9:45 a.m. Wood will give her featured presentation at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
