On Thursday, 9/10/2026 we hosted a night of music and a celebration of local dance traditions at the Floyd Country Store with our Virginia Folklife Program.

The Mustard Cutters played two sets with dance instruction for novices including flatfooting, and a square dance. Behind the store, Jason Rutledge of Ridgewind Suffolk Farm in Copper Hill and his apprentice, Lilliana Shelton of Floyd, delighted attendees with his Suffolk Punch draft horses.

Presented as part of our annual regional events initiative, this free program brings engaging humanities experiences to communities across the commonwealth.
