Cary Ferguson is a finance generalist in Virginia Humanities’ business office. She earned two Associate of Applied Science degrees from Piedmont Virginia Community College, the latter in Accounting in 2000.  Soon after graduating, she had her first child.  Wanting to stay at home to raise her children, she started her own medical transcription business working for a local hospital and various medical offices.  In 2008 Ferguson started working part-time for Virginia Humanities.  As her duties and responsibilities continued to increase, she became full-time in 2010. Ferguson manages financial payment and reconciliation processes, coordinates employee time management entry, and assists programs with organizing/coordinating finances and operations as well as organizing the record management archiving /destruction process. Her attention to detail, accuracy and efficiency in accounting are especially important for the annual audit. Ferguson has participated in numerous UVA business and accounting seminars, Human Resource workshops, and recently received her certification in Business Professional Development.
