Edward T. Linenthal is Professor Emeritus, Department of History, Indiana University. He served as Editor of the Journal of American History from 2005-2016. He has served as Visiting Scholar for the National Park Service and as a member of the Flight 93 Memorial Commission. For several years he co-directed a Gilder Lehrman summer teacher institute at the 9/11 Memorial & Museum, “9/11 in American Memory.”

Since 2013 he has been a member of an advisory group in Norway dedicated to memorialization of the 2011 terrorist attack. His books include: Sacred Ground: Americans and Their Battlefields; Preserving Memory: the Struggle to Create America’s Holocaust Museum; and The Unfinished Bombing: Oklahoma City in American Memory. His co-edited books include: History Wars: the Enola Gay and other Battles for the American Past; and Landscapes of 9/11: A Photographer’s Journey.
