Julia Chaffers is the Assistant Editor of Encyclopedia Virginia, where she locates and transcribes primary documents and assists with the editorial workflow. Prior to joining Virginia Humanities, Julia spent two years at University College London as a Marshall Scholar. She earned master’s degrees in Public History and U.S. History & Politics. Julia graduated from Princeton University in 2022, where she studied History and African American Studies. Her research has focused on the connections between football and Black identity in London and the history of Confederate mascots in high schools across the United States.
