Larissa Smith is Professor of American History and Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs at Longwood University in Farmville, Virginia. Smith’s research focuses on the twentieth-century civil rights movement in Virginia. She serves as university liaison to the Robert Russa Moton Museum, a National Historic Landmark and civil rights museum. She also was the lead historical consultant for the museum’s award-winning exhibit The Moton School Story: Children of Courage and author of the exhibit guide. Smith is a past recipient of a Virginia Foundation for Humanities fellowship and a contributor to the Encyclopedia Virginia.
