Join us for the second in a series of teaching webinars in collaboration with the Virginia Department of Education’s history and social science program. With engaging group discussions, visits from history and social science experts, and virtual tours through local museums, these webinars are a resource for local school administrators, educators, and parents currently teaching from home.
In this session, Virginia Humanities’ Grants Program director (and director of the “Immigration Stories” project) David Bearinger moderates a discussion among the following panelists:
- Karla Almendarez-Ramos (Honduras), director of the Office of Multicultural Affairs for the City of Richmond
- Seyoum Berhe (Ethiopia), director of the Office of Newcomer Services and State RefugeeCoordinator for the Commonwealth of Virginia
- Emma Violand-Sanchez (Bolivia), founding director of The Dream Project, which provides scholarship and mentorship support to undocumented immigrant and refugee high school students in Virginia
