Beloved Community Cville is hosting an online “Slave Auction Block Vigil: Honoring the Ancestors” that will be live streamed from the Historic Court Square in downtown Charlottesville.

Community members (Prof. Jalane Schmidt, Deacon Don Gathers, Cauline Yates, Apostle Sarah Kelley, Rev. Lehman Bates, Rev. Xavier Jackson, Kim Swift and Dr. Kevin McDonald) will acknowledge the trauma which took place there and honor local enslaved ancestors. Due to COVID-19, this event is in-person for only the participants, but you can register to join via Zoom.

Sponsored by Beloved Community Cville and African American Pastors Council with support from Virginia Humanities, and WTJU.
