On May 1, join Hampton University Professor of History Dr. Natalie Robertson for a Zoom workshop explaining the guidelines for planning, conducting and recording oral history projects to preserve your family and community history.

This event is part of the Newport News Public Library’s “Say It Loud: A Salute to the Heroes of the Southeast Community” project, a multi-phased initiative to pay tribute to the history and cultural heritage of the African American residents in the Southeast Community. “Say It Loud” was made possible in part by a Virginia Humanities grant.

Registration is required and begins April 17th at 10 A.M. Registered participants will receive the Zoom link in an email and can pick up a free copy of “Oral History Workshop: Collect and Celebrate the Life Stories of Your Family and Friends” by Cynthia Hart at a Newport News Public Library. Supplies are limited.

To register, please call 757-591-4858 or visit https://library.nnva.gov/events.
