Enjoy a night of music and a celebration of local dance traditions at the Floyd Country Store with our Virginia Folklife Program.
Jason Rutledge of Ridgewind Suffolk Farm in Copper Hill and his apprentice, Lilliana Shelton of Floyd, will demonstrate with his Suffolk Punch draft horses behind the store. The Mustard Cutters will play two sets with dance instruction for novices — the first set will get you flatfooting, and a caller will lead a square dance for the second.
Before the Mustard Cutters play, we will share videos featuring beloved regulars at dances in Fries, Coeburn, and Blacksburg from our new podcast, In Common.
Presented as part of our annual regional events initiative, this free program brings engaging humanities experiences to communities across the commonwealth. Registration is requested but not required.
