Letters of Intent (LOIs) for the Summer Grant cycle are due May 15, 2021.

LOIs are required for all grant applications, including resubmissions.

Note that the Letter of Intent is not a letter: it’s the answers to a set of questions submitted on the Grant Application website.

LOIs submitted for the Summer Grant cycle will be reviewed by Virginia Humanities staff and applicants will be informed that their LOI has been approved or denied by May 25, 2021.

Work on the application itself cannot begin until the LOI has been approved, but applicants may (and are encouraged to) contact Staff prior to submitting the LOI, to discuss the application process.

Applicants whose LOIs are approved are also strongly encouraged to submit a draft proposal for staff review in advance of the formal application. Drafts are required for all requests greater than $10,000.

The proposal due date for the Summer Grant cycle is July 15, 2021.  Please note that the LOI is not a proposal; nor should it be considered a draft of the proposal.

Approval of the LOI is not a promise or a guarantee of future funding.
