Our Board of Directors is comprised of Virginians from diverse educational, business, government, civic, and cultural communities.

Meeting four times per year with additional committee involvement, the Virginia Humanities Board of Directors oversees organizational policy and programming. Each member serves for a three-year term, once renewable. Six members of the Board are appointed by the Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia; nineteen members are elected by the Board.

The Virginia Humanities Board Nominating Committee welcomes suggested nominations to the Board throughout the year, specifically seeking individuals who are passionate about the humanities. As a nonpartisan agency, we seek board members who are broadly representative of the citizens of the Commonwealth and the various civic, ethnic, and minority group interests. Please email suggested nominations, including bios or resumes, to Raennah Mitchell.

Darden Golub Capital Board Fellows

The Darden Golub Capital Board Fellows program connects Second Year MBA students at Darden School of Business with local nonprofit organizations for a unique opportunity in board service. Fellows serve as non-voting board members while simultaneously participating in classroom courses in board governance. In addition, Golub Capital Board Fellows have a lasting impact on their nonprofit partners by completing a meaningful project for their nonprofit over the course of the program.
